Story behind the song
Inspired by our honored verterans and a poem by Joanna Fuchs called "They Did Their Share"
Lyrics
They Did Their Share On Veterans Day we honor Soldiers who protect our nation. For their service as our warriors, They deserve our admiration. Some of them were drafted; Some were volunteers; For some it was just yesterday; For some it's been many years; In the jungle or the desert, On land or on the sea, They did whatever was assigned To produce a victory. Some came back; some didn't. They defended us everywhere. Some saw combat; some rode a desk; All of them did their share. No matter what the duty, For low pay and little glory, These soldiers gave up normal lives, For duties mundane and gory. Let every veteran be honored; Don't let politics get in the way. Without them, freedom would have died; What they did, we can't repay. We owe so much to them, Who kept us safe from terror, So when we see a uniform, Let's say "thank you" to every wearer. This is a very nice piece! I get a Celtic vibe from the flutes too. I love the flow and crescendo!
Nice Country touch with beautiful flutes and swelling orchestration. A wonderful salute in song to all veterans -

Excellent work Michael. Quite honorable, as well. Your musical abilities are beyond words. Your soundwork is clean and perfect all the time. Wish I could say the same for mine.:) Michael, I have had people tell me, on my Countess Lekzee account, that I write too many messages on their pages, and so they had deleted my 5 star ratings and all. Why ?..., do I really write too many? I will not mention names, but, I thought it to be quite peculiar.:) I am overjoyed to get messages and ratings.

Great trilogy here Michael. This is a perfect summation...you have somehow captured musically all the sacrifice, the bravery, the honor and glory of those that have served. Magnificent piece here my friend. Bravo!

I don't have any surviving relatives from the WW's, but me grandads would've both shed a tear hearing this. Astounding!

Excellent work. A touching, powerful, and emotional tribute to those who have sacrificed for us and for our way of life. A wonderful tie-in to the "Memory Of A Dream" trilogy. Very happy to have had a chance to hear this on Veteran's Day, thank you. My Father was a disabled WWII Veteran (lost a leg) who fought in the Pacific, my Uncle survived the Pearl Harbor attack, and my older brother served in Vietnam, this really hits home.
