Major Snagg is the invented name of the 'band' that perform all my own musical creations. (songs and instrumentals). I play guitars, bass, rudimentary keyboards, harmonica, and sing. Melody has always been important to me... lyrics and guitar solos have to say or communicate something. I create musical worlds that I hope that you dear listener, will also want to explore and live in for a few moments...or longer if you feel that way inclined.

Story behind the song
The streets these days are the setting for all kinds of anti-social behaviour. It made me think that the mindless morons who do this could very easily be manipulated by a dictator to do the same for him...These are the kind of people who would gladly burn books for someone else... well, it happened in Germany in 1933. And as they say, "where they burn books, people are next"!
Lyrics
Burning Books (c) David A Briggs 2023 Can you hear the humming in the wires. Can you smell books burning in the fires. Anti-social streets of shame, rust and rain, again and again. As they march trough with their flags unfurled, we hide away, we shut out the world. We avert our eyes and block our ears, it helps to alleviate our fears. Anti-social streets of shame, rust and rain, again and again. Anti-social streets of shame, again and again... who's to blame. A thousand TV's fill the rooms with light. There's no one on these mean streets tonight. Black and shiny cars speed by, Tomorrowland via Stereoland. Old stream trains and aeroplanes, Tomorrowland via Stereoland. guitar solo The future is just yesterday's tomorrow. All you left us was endless years of sorrow. Anti-social streets of shame, again and again... who's to blame. Those anti-social streets of shame, rust and rain, again and again. fade-out

I agree with Michael. The song is also a great observational social comment, expertly performed & produced.

As I was just saying, these two new records are the bloody Cat's PJs! You've literally chased me into the studio, to put this new mojo you're on to, to good use, 'cause it's rubbed off. You're getting betterer and betterer.
