Story behind the song
From 2009, a remix of a trilogy of tunes I wrote inspired by our honored veterans, and a poem by Joanna Fuchs called "They Did Their Share"
Lyrics
They Did Their Share On Veterans Day we honor Soldiers who protect our nation. For their service as our warriors, They deserve our admiration. Some of them were drafted; Some were volunteers; For some it was just yesterday; For some it's been many years; In the jungle or the desert, On land or on the sea, They did whatever was assigned To produce a victory. Some came back; some didn't. They defended us everywhere. Some saw combat; some rode a desk; All of them did their share. No matter what the duty, For low pay and little glory, These soldiers gave up normal lives, For duties mundane and gory. Let every veteran be honored; Don't let politics get in the way. Without them, freedom would have died; What they did, we can't repay. We owe so much to them, Who kept us safe from terror, So when we see a uniform, Let's say "thank you" to every wearer. The melodies are immediate and prominent yet providing the warmth and emotionalism. The musical segments are fitted perfectly denoting the various (distinctive) moods of the composition. Beautifully written, crafted, and produced Michael. The Remembering: High the Memory of our bravest.

Very nice composition and sound. Keeps the listeners holding on. All instrumentation is warm and very well performed and recorded. The changes are smooth and fit well together with the main score. I really like the subtle build up near the end also. Well done!

Some fairy tale in sounds... This is like the first sunbeams after the rain... Very beautiful and delicate both in character and form, which is very diverse. I also can add that this piece of music has some symphony approach concerning its development with its different parts and stages. The sound palette is fantastic - it creates the live picture that really breathe. So your remembrance, Mike, is very vivid and - I guess - happy. And this is good. :) Awesome music...
