Trying to describe the indescribable.
My wife and I had just finished up a scuba drift dive along the back of Molokini Crater, Maui.
As we turned to start our slow assent to the boat 1/4 mile away,
we took a compass reading, checked our depth & air, then set out away from the wall.
As it faded behind us we found ourselves out in front,
with nothing for our flashlights to illuminate we turned them off,
and the ambient light at that depth settled in,
Then it hit us..
I guess you just had to be there..
It's just too hard to describe..
The feeling of vastness and awesomeness that overtakes you,
staring into the void at 100 feet below the surface,
with more than a mile below you to the ocean floor.
And you suddenly realize where you are..
